Vindexus CEO''s donation to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
- This is a good and we are only throwing a small pebble in. If this saves somebody’s life and at the same time brings us back to the times of fame and glory of the Republic of Poland, it will mean that this topic was worth bringing up - says Jan Kuchno, CEO of Giełda Praw Majątkowych “Vindexus”. What he means is a unique edition of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s “Trilogy” that the CEO donated for the auction of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. It is the first time our company has taken part in this event.
You can’t and you will not find the same edition of “Trilogy” anywhere in the world. It is a unique, gorgeously illustrated edition of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s masterpiece which has won many awards, including the Gold Medal of the MTP Poznań Expo, the European Medal of the Business Centre Club and the “Poland Now!” emblem.
The book is a valuable collector''s item because it is one of 499 pre-numbered volumes, with illustrations made by artists on mould-made paper and in leather bounding. The acid-free paper iis a guarantee of longevity.
This special edition of the “Trilogy” was produced by the one and only Kurtiak & Ley Art Publishing House. The publishers specialise in books which are nothing short of works of art. The entire publishing process is similar to that used at Gutenberg''s times.
The founder of the volume – Jan Kuchno – CEO of Giełda Praw Majątkowych “Vindexus”, is a history lover and an author of a historical blog www.ztekiprezesa.pl.
- Written to encourage and strengthen the Polish spirit during the time of partitions, the “Trilogy” was supposed to remind the Polish people of the greatness, power and position of their country. It was written to encourage the young generation to strive for the country’s independence and to focus on the objective of rebuilding the nation. I recommend Henryk Sienkiewicz’s masterpiece to both the young and old. I was enchanted by it once. It inspired my interest in history – says CEO Jan Kuchno.
Jerzy Owsiak, head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, commented briefly: - The person who wins the auction will get to own an absolutely unique item. The attention to detail is incredible. The book takes as back to the past. It has the beauty of an incunable, it has its smell, form, stunning illustrations and print. Books like this are no longer published today... It is not a book that you can read anywhere, outside, you have to find yourself a place at a table, make yourself a hot tea, create a cosy atmosphere. Just open the book and immerse yourself in it...
The auction lasted 10 days, until 12th January. The initial price was set at 5 thousand zloty. It was auctioned for 7200 zloty.
The money was donated to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The funds raised as part of this year''s event will be used to finance the purchase of equipment for paediatric surgery departments.
